A.R.Rahman Biography
The Mozart of Madras, the Isaipuyal of the Indian music industry, Allahrakka Rahman, was born on 6 January 1967.
He began his music career by composing scores for documentaries and jingles for advertisements and Indian television channels.
He had an in-house studio called as Panchathan Record Inn, Rahman started his first film music with Roja directed by ace director Mani Ratnam.
Then Rahman went on scoring films after films and won six National Film Awards, two Grammy Awards, two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, seventeen south Filmfare awards, and fifteen Filmfare Awards. He also produced and written two films Le Musk and 99 songs.
He was also awarded the third-highest civilian award in the country, Padma Bhushan, in 2010 by the Government of India.
Rahman is one of the world's best-selling music artists with an estimated 150 million records sold worldwide.
Apart from music, in 2004 he was also appointed as the global ambassador for the Stop TB Partnership, a WHO project, in 2014 Rahman was awarded an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music.
His journey in music continues to inspire millions.
