Growing up as the youngest of five daughters in a traditional Gujarati family in Mumbai's Khar neighborhood, Falguni developed an early passion for music by listening to songs on the radio. At the age of nine, she gave her first stage performance aboard the INS Udaigiri ship during India's Independence Day celebrations, singing "Laila O Laila" from the film Qurbani (1980). Despite facing initial resistance from her conservative family—her father was particularly disapproving of her musical pursuits—Falguni remained steadfast in her passion for singing.
